Fire-Lite Alarms is requiring an immediate firmware upgrade be performed on certain MS-9600LS Series Fire Alarm Control Panels to address a potential Signaling Line Circuit (SLC) polling issue when these panels are used in conjunction with the SLC-2LS expander module. All MS-9600LS, MS-9600LSC, MS-9600LSE, MS-9600UDLS, and MS-9600UDLSE panels manufactured between October 2008 and March 2010 (date codes from 4008 to 1010) operating in a two loop configuration (i.e. installed with an SLC-2LS expander module) must be immediately upgraded to Firmware version 4.3. The System Sensor BEAM1224 and BEAM1224S are four-wire conventional projected beam smoke detectors. They are uniquely suited for protecting open areas with high ceilings where spot-type smoke detectors are difficult to install and maintain. BEAM1224 and BEAM1224S are to be used with UL Listed compatible fire alarm control panels only. Installation of the single-ended reflective design is much quicker than a dual-ended projected beam detector. Alignment is easily accomplished with an optical sight and a two-digit signal strength meter incorporated into the beam detector. Listed for operation from – 22°F to 131°F, the BEAM1224 and BEAM1224S can be used in open area applications to provide early warning in environments where temperature extremes exceed the design limits fo other types of smoke detection.

Fire-Lite is pleased to announce the availability of version 2.2 of the PK-CD that provides upload/download utilities for all of the Fire-Lite addressable panels including MS-9050UD. This release includes PK-PLUS version 3.1 and PPU wizard V3.1. However, since the actual 2.2 version of PK-CD will not be available through distribution for a week or so, customers needing an immediate copy for the MS-9050UD can download one from www.firelite.com/pktools. Please follow the directions below for unzipping the files. As these files are quite large, a high speed Internet connection should be used.

MS-9050UD Released from Product Hold

This bulletin is to advise you that FireLite has released the MS-9050UD product from product hold and production has resumed. This product was placed on hold due to a small number of customer returns reporting a memory error. To provide for immediate replacement, customers were advised that any product exhibiting this error could be returned to their distributor and exchanged for an MS-9200UDLS at the same price.

Out of several thousand MS-9050UD panels shipped since June of 2006, Fire●Lite has received a small number of returns related to a non-latching trouble message called “INTERNAL RAM ERROR”. If customers receive this trouble condition, they are advised to return the product to their distributor for replacement. We are working to resolve the issue but in the meantime, customers may return the affected MS-9050UD and replace it with an MS-9200UDLS.
